BGK 22: TRUSTING THE JOURNEY
Hello from BGK22! Surpassing 10 years of setting students on fire, they have inspiring words that will last a lifetime. We were even fortunate to hear from the first BGK 1 Lay Director to show just how timeless this ministry is.
It was a great experience getting to grow closer to God. What was especially nice about the retreat was getting to hear people’s own personal stories and how far they’ve come in their walk to find a life more Christ centered.
I have been on two other retreats and Koinonia was better than those two combined. It helped me change my viewpoints on everything and help me learn how to grow closer to Christ.
This Koinonia retreat I was able to see how others experienced Christ during that weekend. Through small group conversations, witnesses, and more, I was able to see people become transformed.”
Through such a special experience I was able to be reminded of the calling written on my heart to not only have a friendship with Jesus, but rather to pursue an intimacy with Christ through every encounter in my daily life. Koinonia gave me the renewal of spirit and encouragement that I needed at just the right time. The friendships I formed and memories made at Koinonia are something that I will cherish in my heart, and I am so blessed to be part of such a wonderful community of people that have such a desire and love for our Lord.
Being Lay Director on [BGK22] was a rewarding experience that not only helped me in my faith, but leading others on their faith journey as well.
I truly felt the meaning of community when I came back this semester to serve as a team member for the first time since [BGK15]. I only knew two of the team members going into the planning process, which was scary, but I was welcomed with open arms and met numerous new friends throughout the retreat.
...I remember traveling with a small group to the University of Illinois to experience a Koinonia for the first time and am grateful to our pastor and campus minister at the time who pushed to make it happen...I thank all of those who said yes to making it an ongoing ministry at St. Tom’s and I pray that the Holy Spirit continues to inspire others to lead and attend it well into the future.
