NOT JUST ANOTHER PICNIC
Where two or more are gathered in His name, God is in their midst. On July 21, the community gathered together for our annual Parish Picnic. After Mass, we headed over to Seton Hall for a delicious meal and great fellowship.
Even the threat a rain didn’t keep the community from coming together for the evening. Seton Hall was filled with permanent community members and students alike. Old friends shared tales of their summer adventures and new friendships were quickly made. It is always such a joy when I am able to hear the stories of the parishioners’ families and what they are passionate about, to catch up with them before we become busy with all of the student ministries during the year.
After the meal was finished, people sat around talking and catching up, or headed outside to play yard games. Sometime during dinner, it must have rained a bit and we came outside to a rainbow poking through the clouds above the church! It was such a beautiful way to end the evening!
I am so thankful for everyone who helped to make this event a success. Fr. Jason and Ray, thank you for setting up the tables earlier in the day. Tom and Deacon Dan, thanks for always being willing to man the grills. Angie, Mary Beth, Rachel, James, and Kathy, thank you for helping to set up and making sure everything is in order. And a very special thank you to everyone who brought dishes to share with the community. I am always humbled by the generosity and talent of this community when it comes to events like this.
If you weren’t able to make it this year, mark your calendars now for next year’s Parish Picnic on Saturday, July 20 following the 5:00pm Mass.
We hope to see you there!
