ONE SPOOK-TACULAR NIGHT
At the end of October, the St. Thomas More community was able to get together for our annual Halloween Party, this year named as the “Fall Spooktacular!”. We had a hayride and a scavenger hunt around St. Tom’s. With the help of Core Team and some amazing volunteers, Seton Hall was decked out in Halloween decorations. Hot chili and breadsticks were served, with snacks, cookies, and hot cider. A resident of Newman Housing, Teressa Kenny, commented on the hayride: “I never did a hayride on a real road, which was super exciting! We were sitting on a huge pile of hay, singing random songs, and got to wave at any students who were walking around campus!”
Another activity at the party included guests sticking their hands in ‘mystery bowls.’ Five substances in five containers were selected for guests to guess what the substance was! These included peeled grapes, pumpkin guts, cooked spaghetti, jello, and cottage cheese (Ew!). It was great seeing their reactions to the mystery bowls. Most everyone thought the cottage cheese was the worst.
One of the best sights to see were all of the students with their Halloween costumes on! During the night, attendees were able to vote for their fellow friends in the costume contest. Categories included Funniest, Scariest, Best Duo/Couple, and Best Procrastinator costumes. The Best Duo/Couple prize was given to Katie Perry and boyfriend Ryan Murphy dressed as “the dynamic duo of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy” from Spongebob Squarepants. Katie commented, “Maybe we didn’t get to fight crime like our beloved Spongebob superheroes do, but a party with a hayride, amazing food, and a costume contest is still pretty super!”
Overall, guests had one spooky night for fellowship and fun at St. Tom’s! Core Team would like to thank everyone who helped with the night, including our very own Father Jason, Campus Minister Alicia Schmiesing, Kathy and Tom Wojo, in addition to friends of the parish for their kind donations.
Can’t wait to see you all in your Halloween costumes next year! God Bless!
