STAFF HIGHLIGHT: MEGAN FORSTHOEFEL
Hey there! I’m Megan Forsthoefel, one of three Newman Housing Minsters this year. I have been enjoying this role so much—I just recently gained the desire to lead, so I’ve been discovering and exploring the limits of this new piece of me—and man, has it been a ride.
I’m the youngest of three, minus our very rambunctious puppy. I owe my faith to my sister. We all grew up catholic, but none of us were super into it. However, in high school my sister got more involved with service opportunities and prayer. I was stubborn and I took my good sweet time, (which is the story of my entire faith journey, really), but I eventually let her spiritual growth inspire mine.
I feel incredibly blessed to have found this community. It’s a miracle I did, really. BGSU was the complete opposite of what I was looking for in a college and I came very close to going elsewhere. Before college I had every intention to stop going to church once I moved out. But God snapped up my attention in the nick of time, so I dipped my toe in the water to see what I’d find. St. Tom’s didn’t seem like much to me on the outside, but this place ended up being a great community. Even though I was shy and nervous, St. Tom’s feels like home.
After graduation, I hope to someday move back down around Columbus because I love the area. When I was younger, I dreamed about becoming a best-selling author. I still have that dream, and I may pursue it someday, but there are many other artistic options and opportunities that have presented themselves this past year. I have plans and sketches for a children’s picture book, as well as ideas for other medias I’d be interested to dabble in. In all honesty, I have no clue what I will do after I graduate—maybe a little bit of everything. It’s all up in the air right now. But wherever God leads me, I know it’s gonna be something beautiful.
